Patio Enclosures Whitby

When homeowners are considering enclosing their patio for extended and protected use, they will come to realize that there is a smorgasbord of options available to them, and this is where our company can step in with sound advice and guidance! Patio enclosures Whitby provides you, the homeowner, with the ability to extend your interior space, that is encompassed by the outdoors (we know how much Canadians love their patios and backyards for family time and entertaining guests). By enclosing your patio, you are extending interior square footage, adding more value to your home and providing yourself the opportunity to design a whole new d├ęcor element to your patio! You have choices, but you should first decide how you want to use your new enclosed space, will it be just for summer use, three seasons, four seasons, or, do you just want to create some shade and possibly some screening to ward away pesky insects? Once you have decided how you want your new patio enclosures Whitby to function, then choosing the perfect style is the next exciting and super-fun step!

Patio Enclosures Styles

The main types of styles of patio enclosures that you can consider consist of patio covers (geared more for shade), screened in patio enclosures (framed in with full sized screen panels), sunroom (full glass panels with operational/fixed glass windows), three season patio enclosures (full glass panels, windows & door), four season patio enclosures (insulated with heating/cooling) and solariums (full glass panels, door, windows & clear glass roof). Screens are interchangeable with glass panels, but if you wish to have that versatility, it will need to be decided beforehand for proper framing. As our patio enclosures Whitby are custom made, you have the opportunity to design your own style, based on your current roof structure, existing patio structure & square footage, or, a new build construction with a new roof (possibly extending your patio space!).

Patio Enclosures Materials

Screens: screen material is a highly durable aluminium mesh that is painted black, to deflect some of the harmful UV rays that come through with natural sunlight and keeping insects out, using our high-grade screening that is made to be durable against the weather elements, and strong for longer life (our screen/mesh panels resist corrosion and sagging).
Glass: there are a couple of different types of glass, there is single glass pane (great for use during three of the Canadian seasons) and double glass pane (which is thermal-friendly and energy efficient throughout all four Canadian seasons). We offer our customers optional choices like tinting the glass, low-e glazing and interchangeable glass for screens.
Wood: is the more expensive choice, but it is a natural material, it has a warm appearance, it is versatile for all sized constructions, it is an superb insulator of noise & heat (there are now rot-proof and exotic natural woods available), but it requires treatment (painting or staining) and regular maintenance.
Steel: is strong, pleasing to the eyes, is a higher quality material, is versatile for various sized constructions, but it has a low insulation factor and requires reinforced steel & anti-rust treatments (it is parallel in cost to wood), but can last for many years.
Aluminium: a great choice for its lower costs, its high rigidity, almost maintenance free, a larger variety of colours & sizes, it is lightweight, but it is a conductor which will require a thermal break in the aluminium framing.
Vinyl: is a top choice for its durability, maintenance-free appeal, resistant to mold, offering a wealth of colour palettes & wood-look or metal-look manufacturing, and is easier to install. The most cost-effective choice is vinyl for its versatility and made in various shapes, offering a smaller colour palette, is easily accessible and is a decent insulator (vinyl lasts for many years).

Patio Enclosures Extras

Patio enclosures Whitby provides excellent extras that you can incorporate into your own design, and are optional like tempered glass, insulated knee-walls or kick plates, in-swing doors, customized sills, sliding doors to save on space in smaller areas, transoms & sidelites and modern hardware & security options. Our patio enclosures do come with standard equipment and all that you will need to erect your enclosure, but the little extras can polish off your design to make it unique to you and your home. Another consideration is (especially if you are handy and like DIY projects) our kits that come pre-assembled, so you can install it yourself!
